What Discovery Lab is

Discovery Lab is a free, interactive security readiness workshop. You walk through scenarios that simulate modern attacks and receive a personalized report highlighting detection gaps in your security stack. It is an educational tool, not a formal security assessment.

No guarantees

The report reflects the responses you provided during the workshop. It is not a substitute for a professional security audit, penetration test, or formal risk assessment. Discovery Lab makes no representation that using this tool will detect, prevent, or mitigate any specific security threat.

Recommendations in your report are general best practices and should be reviewed with your internal security team and qualified advisors before acting on them.

Honest use

You agree to:

• Provide accurate information on the setup screen
• Not use the workshop to collect or analyze data about someone else without their knowledge
• Not attempt to attack, reverse-engineer, or disrupt the service
• Not use automated tools to submit workshop responses

Your content

You keep ownership of anything you enter. By using Discovery Lab, you grant us permission to retain your responses, generate your report, and share a summary with the team supporting your account so they can follow up with you. See our Privacy Notice for the full list of who that includes.

Availability

Discovery Lab is provided as-is. We may update, change, or discontinue features at any time. We aim for high availability but don't guarantee uninterrupted service.

Liability

To the maximum extent allowed by law, Discovery Lab and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the tool. Your sole remedy if you are unhappy with the service is to stop using it.

About the creator

Discovery Lab is built and operated by Charles Hall, Partner Architect at Optiv. It is inspired by the work of the Partner Architect team and is provided as a free community resource for security practitioners.
